How do you stop from gaining weight? Last time I quit I gained 40 lbs in one year. I was sick of being a hoss and started smoking again. I lost the weight. Now I quit again and am on an exercise program, but I still have urges to eat more. Are there any pills that suppress your appetite?
They say using patches or chewing gum can help. If you need to snack try fresh fruit or sticks of veg such as carrots and celery
there are lots of pills to suppress your appetite.. but exercise and a balance diet is the best way to loss weight.. drinking water makes you feel fuller so you tend to eat less..:)
Sure there are, but once you stop taking them you will be back to square one. Try grabbing fruits or veggies when you get the urge to eat more. Or a stick of sugar free gum. Eventually you will get over that ‘oral fixation.’
There are pills that help with your weight gain. The main thing is to eat more fruits & veggies. Drink water. 3 to 5 bottles of water a day. A friend of ours was smoking 3 packs a day & stopped cold turkey. She got some of them wooden tooth picks & chewed them. If you don’t have dentures get some gum & chew on it. She said it was cheaper to buy the wooden toothpicks than cigarettes. Most of the gum is sugar free any more so that won’t hurt. Take up a craft of some kind to keep your hands busy. If you go to the fridge or reach for something to eat ask yourself it you really want it. Then do something else. Good luck with it.
it is a multi faccetted problem, you tend to replace smoking with eating out of boredom, and smoking is a appetite suppressant, so your appetite naturally goes up. what i would do is take advantage of this decision to better your health by making slight changes to your diet right now as well as quitting smoking. begin by planning to eat a healthy breakfast, early lunch , a late lunch, and dinner, and fill your house with healthy snacks. the reason for the 2 lunches is that you will split the portion in half, and end up eating an extra meal in the day. your caloric intake will be the same, but you will be eating more often which will leave you less prone to snack on junk., when you go grocery shopping, try to stay out of the isles as this is where most the unhealthy junk food is lurking. shop the perimeter of the store. lots of fruits and veggies, it is ok to eat more food, as long as you are making good food choices. consider chicken breasts, turkey, lean cuts of steaks, tuna, salmon, yogurt, cottage cheese, eggs, brown rice, sweet potatoes, oatmeal, whole wheat pasta. try to avoid ground beef, unless it is 90% lean, chicken legs, the skin from chicken or turkey as it is all fat, white bread, white rice, processed foods, the obvious being cookies, cakes, etc. and try to limit your condiments such as mayo, bleu cheese, salad dressings, etc.
The best way to keep off the weight is cardio workouts. It will be hard to get into the habit because of smoking but after a couple weeks you will start feeling good. Even mentally you will feel like eating more healthy and as long as you exercise you can eat a little more. I’ve also heard a good way to quit smoking without the urges to eat is stapling the ears. I’ve never tried it but i heard it helps. Good luck to ya!
yes there are but the best is looots of exercise
