Well the horse that was given to me needs alot of weight gain and i heard beet pulp works wonders and also corn oil (HOW MUCH CORN OIL IN CUPS per pound of feed), im feeding her a senior feed and lots of hay and free choice salt and fresh water. I dont want to work her yet until she is at a healthy weight i wormed her already and her teeth are fine. Please serious answers only
Its depends on your horse Weight & Age. Here you will get best Horse Food in reasonable price at “Agritura.com”. These horse food well balanced with Oats, Grass, Vitamins, Carbs & other important ingredients that horse stays healthy & Active. This food labels mentioned feeding quantities by ages & weight.
Here are my ideas.
Keep her on all the hay she can eat. I’d feed 75% grass/25% alfalfa if I could find it. I’m not a fan of sr. feed. I’d feed a 12% protein feed my mill makes but the sr. is just fine if that’s what you can get and if you and the horse like it.
You can add up to a cup of corn oil but I’d probably add up to a cup of black oil sunflower seed myself.
Then I’d start with about a pint of beet pulp soaked for 15 minutes or so in a couple pints of warm water. Some believe that the beet pulp should be soaked for hours but, as per my equine vet, that’s not necessary. IF your horse likes it, and about 1/3 of mine don’t, then slowly up it to as much as 5 gallons. You probably won’t need to feed nearly that much. Most horses will gain just fine with free choice hay, a pound or two of oats and a bit of BOSS (black oil sunflower seed)
