initially yes, you will gain a few lbs of water bc crreatine is a cell hydrator. it really does help with muscle gains tho. its not like "fake muscles" like some people like to argue, its not like that at all. i take the cheap body fortress stuff from walmart cuz it was on sale too. if u got the fruit punch stuff make sure u only take it after workouts bc it causes an inslin spike. if its the white powder then u can take that stuff anytime.

The weight gain is from water to start with, but the whole point is to hydrate your muscle cells, and research has shown that hydrated muscle cells synthysis protein better, therefore, more of your protein will be shuttled in cells.
Also, creatine helps with muscle recovery.
All of these side effects are extremely minimal, maybe a 1% increase in performance on the big scale of things, never the less, it is a good product considering what is available.

Being that Creatine does help with strength gains, you WILL gain muscle mass as a result of using it. However, the most noticeable gains early-on are from water retention.

The over-all gain from Creatine is that it's water based. As stated will help satiate the cells with water. If you look at how the body works, water is to your body like oil is to a car. So you will have over-all cleaner workouts. I've noticed an increase in strength after the soda was ditched completely.
When cycling off creatine you will notice some strength loss, but over all, it will help with muscle growth.
